We’re excited to recognize staff members for their ongoing commitment to continuing education. Our latest update in professional development includes two of our speech/language pathologists, Sorina Larson and Jillian Little.
Sorina recently obtained her Certificate of Competency as a Basic DIRFloortime Provider. This model (Developmental, Individual Difference, Relationship-based) considers the way each person is an individual and perceives/interacts with the world differently.
Sorina Larson

“I have been incorporating the DIR/Floortime framework into every session as a speech/language pathologist,” said Sorina. “It has taught me to see each client as a whole versus only focusing on his or her speech/language difficulties.”
Sorina has completed two of the framework’s training courses, and plans to take more to inform her work at our clinic.
Jillian Little

Jillian Little has been accepted to the Once Upon a Time Foundation’s Advanced Apraxia Training Workshop. One of only 50 applicants accepted to this training, Jillian will learn advanced approaches for evidence-based assessment and treatment of Childhood Apraxia of Speech. Her training is scheduled for October at Rush University Medical Center in Chicago.
Finally, Tamara Pogin became a licensed Play Project Consultant after some extensive coursework and training. Tamara utilizes the Play Project approach as a new treatment option that focuses on parent coaching and learning through play for children with autism. Find out more about the Play Project here.
