Getting Started

For the best experience, we encourage you to give us a call—our compassionate staff is ready to guide you through the process and help you get started on your child's journey to better communication.

The Intake Process

Simply call the Clinic at 218-720-3911 and our caring staff will get you started. They will ask some initial questions and send out a case history form for you to fill out, along with a release of information form. This allows us to reach out to doctors or school staff that has worked with your child in the past. If you prefer to fill out the forms first, you can access them here. Once completed, return the forms through the mail, drop off at the Clinic, or email them to emily@masonicchildrensclinic.org

The Evaluation Process

Initial evaluations help us determine if your child qualifies for therapy, and if so, to create a therapy program specified to their needs.

Our pediatric audiologist will conduct a thorough audiological examination which is more in depth than a screening that is typically done at the doctor’s office or school. This helps rule out or identify any hearing issues that may be leading to speech or language difficulties. One of our pediatric speech-language pathologists, or SLPs, will spend 60-90 minutes with you and your child. The evaluation will include review of your child’s developmental history, standardized testing, clinical observations, and parent reporting measures.

The results will be shared with you along with recommendations for further services, if needed. (If your child already has a recent evaluation from another facility, we may be able to use that evaluation to prepare a treatment plan.)

The Therapy Process

If therapy is recommended for your child, our schedulers will work with you to find a day and time that works. Therapy is typically recommended 1-2 times per week for 45-minute sessions. Once scheduled, you will see the same SLP at the same day and time each week.
